他於2003年獲得台大資訊工程博士學位,畢業後服國防役。他在工業界的經歷包含資策會(網路多媒體研究所)、Telecordia Applied Research Center、及美國NEC Research Institute。2007年底,國防役結束前夕,獲國防部頒贈「國防役績優人員全國前25名」獎章,當年獲得此獎的人數不到全國國防役人數的千分之二。他在2008年進入國立中山大學電機系,2014年2月晉升為副教授。在中山大學任職期間,他的教學課程有65%達「績優教學」,他的期刊論文有60%發表在世界排名最頂尖的「IEEE Transactions」期刊。他的研究興趣包含無線網路之最佳化與通訊協定設計。他所擁有的8個美國專利之一有關WiFi省電的技術(專利號碼:7,418,004)成為IEEE 802.11n國際標準的一部份。他所指導的碩士畢業生中,目前已有不少已經成為百萬年薪的科技新貴。<br><br>Zi-Tsan Chou earned the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University in June 2003. From Oct. 2003 to Jan. 2008, during the period of time served in the military, he joined Institute for Information Industry and worked as a section manager and senior engineer. His industrial experiences also include NEC Research Institute and Telecordia Applied Research Center.&nbsp;Before the end of compulsory military service, he received the Top-25 Outstanding Civil Servants Award (acceptance ratio &lt; 0.18%) from the Ministry of National Defense due to his contributions on patents. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Sun Yat-Sen University (NSYSU) in Feb. 2008&nbsp;as an Assistant Professor,&nbsp;and was promoted as an Associate Professor in Feb. 2014. His research interests include optimization and protocol design for wireless networks. During the time in NSYSU, 65 percent of his courses were evaluated as Excellent and 60 percent of his research papers were published in the journals of IEEE Transactions, which have the highest level of impact on the field of computer science and engineering.
